Ibiza Glad To Meet Ya

Do you consider yourself a true party animal? Well, you haven't proven anything until you've survived a vacation of sinful delights in Ibiza, Spain. If a crazy nightlife, beautiful beaches, loads of single women, and an intoxicating atmosphere are what you need to escape the monotony of your workaday life, this is the spot. One of the most popular summer destinations among young adults, celebrities, models, and top DJs, Ibiza has become the definitive party resort.

be properly prepared

Before you leave, you must tie up loose ends. The main thing is to cut all links with those females you keep stringing along. The only baggage you want to bring to Ibiza is your suitcase.

Also, it is essential to physically prepare for the constant whiplash you will experience with all the eye candy walking around. Get a massage, or at least stretch your neck frequently before stepping onto the plane.

Lastly, condition your body for some frequent drinking. It is quite difficult to stave off any temptation in Ibiza, and alcohol flows as freely as the loads of tourists who arrive in June, July and August.

getting there

Scheduling a flight and planning a weeklong stay in the most popular of the Balearic Islands is easy. With such high demand, there are a multitude of cost-saving flights from various carriers available to the consumer. It is not necessary to even land on the Spanish mainland and take a short flight to Ibiza; going directly not only maximizes your partying time but also minimizes cost.

If you are heading to Ibiza from Spain, you can take a ferry from the mainland -- the one you choose depends on how much you want to spend and how quickly you want to get there. And if you've been traveling through Europe and have left Ibiza as the grand finale, keep all your Euros; it has made the change in currency as part of the European Community.

Once you arrive, try to control your mojo . Many have been stricken with seizures stemming from over-stimulation; there are women, women everywhere. In Ibiza, flirting is the preferred mode of communication and getting lucky should be expected. You have landed in heaven, my friend.

where to start

While it's all about sunbathing, walking the cobblestone streets of the city (whose cultural charm tourists have yet to destroy) and shopping at cool boutiques during the day, the nightlife is surely the main reason you came. Most clubs open around midnight but don't start to get busy until 2am, so there is ample time to explore beforehand.

Traditionally, many take their pick of pre-club bars that line the narrow streets of the old quarter. As the sun sets, the city becomes a place to see and be seen, therefore looking and dressing your best is a prerequisite. The crowds will often be large, so forget about grabbing a drink and keeping to yourself. It is better to mingle and stir up conversation -- just be wary of the many transvestites, especially if he/she flirts back.

For a different setting, the early night can be spent on the streets along the city's harbor. The view is different from the wacky guys on stilts that march around the old quarter and is actually quite beautiful. If you're lucky enough, you may receive one or two free drinks during happy hour or even a free pass at a disco that night.

like a kid at a candy store

The beauty of Ibiza is not only in the obvious things such as the multitude of uninhibited ladies, but also in the wide variety of places to frequent. Without knowing too much about the late-night scene, one can find their way to a great spot.

Of course, not every place will suit your needs: There are the gay discos, techno clubs, low-key bars, and general halls. You should devote your first night to exploration, scoping out where big DJs such as
Carl Cox and Roger Sanchez may be playing. By asking around, you'll get the names of the big clubs that are always a hit, like Amnesia, Pacha, Es Paradis, and Space, to name just a few.

f you're not sure where to go or want to give most of the popular bars a try, there's actually a "disco bus" that takes party animals to all the major clubs, all night (and morning...) long. Wherever you end up, chances are you'll have a lady around your arm, a beer in your hand, and a head rush from the excitement of realizing that you're at the biggest party in the world.

more than just clubbing?

There is no doubt that even without much preparation, you'll have an enjoyable time clubbing and barhopping. It's the additional fixings that turn your hedonistic Ibiza adventure from great to incredible. One of the unexpected joys of this little haven is the many coves and beaches that line the coast. Private paradises are plentiful and not far away, seeing as the island is only approximately 28 miles long and 15 miles wide. If you didn't get your fill of T&A at the discos, head to popular strips of sand like Cala Salada and Cala Bassa for some pleasant surprises.

With the onset of thousands of travelers and many celebrities, Ibiza has become somewhat of an unofficial fashion center with many unique boutiques sprouting up around the island. No visit would be complete without picking up some wicked Spanish duds worth showing off at any extravagant outing on the island.

old-school charm to boot

Despite the widespread commercialization of this small area of real estate, some interesting European relics remain. If you tour Ibiza Town and San Antonio, some traditional sightseeing (beautiful architecture, Spanish squares) will not leave you disappointed.

Outdoor markets also provide a nice break from expensive restaurant food and give you a chance to see true Ibiza, before it was invaded by horny travelers from around the world. A popular destination is Formentera, a little island away from the party, where you can enjoy the beaches, bicycle tours, picnic lunches, and village strolls. This relaxing change of pace is a ferry ride away from Ibiza.

Another nice bonus is the great food Ibiza offers. Great native and Mediterranean dishes are served at a multitude of small and large restaurants (S'Argamassa Palace, Sa Tasca and C'as Mila, to name a few) located in beautiful areas on the water. There's nothing better than sitting down to an incredible meal before going out on the town for a long night of partying.

There is so much potential in Ibiza; potential to meet many, many hot women, have the time of your life and participate in some of the craziest parties ever. There is no other place like it and I highly recommend you get there before you reach the age where staying up until 10am is no longer appealing. While it can become an expensive trip, the memories (if you remain semi-sober) will be unmatched.

tips for the trip:

  • Be prepared to drop major cash in Ibiza. Everything is expensive, from the drinks you buy for the women across the bar to the meals and accommodations.
  • Go against the grain and visit during May-June or September-October to avoid huge queues at the clubs and steep prices (see above).
  • Buy tickets to club parties prior to waiting in line to avoid major disappointment and long waits.
  • There are no dress codes in the discos, so be comfortable yet fashionable.
  • To visit places further out from your hotel area, rent a car. The drives are never long and Ibiza boasts new roads, which lead to the sea at some point or other. You can also rent motorcycles or bikes.
