Hedonism II: The Jamaican Juice

I plan to head out to Hedonism II with my woman in the near future and, since she has some reservations about the entire vacation, I was hoping that you could explain exactly what goes on down there to help me calm her (or rather excite her).

I'd appreciate any help.

Sincerely,
Jonathan L.

Warning for those who are easily offended: Hedonism II won't be your cup of tea.

Sex, drugs and dreadlock Reggae... Yeah mon. Full-fledged free pouring bars, never-ending culinary and bodily snacks, and the swinging lifestyle... no problem mon. As you'll soon find out, Hedo II is the ultimate getaway for individuals and couples seeking a degenerate experience with non-stop action and thrills.

There's something on the menu for everyone: tall or short, fat or skinny, old or young, as well as a flock of
swinging couples. Yet before getting involved with any of these couples, just remember that if you're not invited, you can't touch -- that's the rule. Don't let this sexual multiplicity freak you out because the Hedo experience isn't only about sex (well okay, maybe it is); you can also enjoy the food, the beach, the weather, and of course, the scenery.

Whatever the driving force behind your stay may be, here are the experiences that make it worthwhile:

beach wise

Hedo II's beach is divided into the "Nude" and "Prude" sides. In terms of sand conditions, I must say that I've seen better elsewhere but trust me, you're not visiting Hedo II for the thickness and whiteness of its sand. Nonetheless, both the nude and prude beaches have very appealing layouts with volleyball courts, complete bars and meal stations, as well as lawn chairs and plenty of trees providing some much appreciated shade.

One thing I particularly enjoyed every day was my time floating in the sea on what I liked to refer to as "floating-just-right" mats. After long nights of partying, nothing felt better than getting half my body roasted while the other half was soaking in pleasantly warm Caribbean water.

Truth is, the nude side is where everything happens. During the day, 80% of the guests tan nude, lying around amid the sea on pool chairs, while others sip away on cocktails in what is referred to as the "Pleasure Pool." It's basically a pool and a bunch of connected Jacuzzis ending with a huge bar. During the day, you could participate in many games such as nude volleyball games, best breast contests, dirty joke telling, or find your partner's "you know what" game, among others.

While Hedo's beach wasn't the most memorable one, the rest of Negril's 7-mile beach is a real treasure to the eyes and feet. Take at least one day to walk along the resort-developed coast. You'll get a chance to meet the locals, cruise the beach shops and if you're lucky enough, you'll also get a glimpse of what's cooking in neighboring clubs. If you like the women you see, don't hesitate to invite them to Hedo II to share the nightlife experience; the more the merrier. (Day passes are available for visiting parties.)

fancy food

Talk about chicken galore. I didn't know they could cook a bird in so many different ways. Let's just say they had a large selection to choose from. The main dining area is where all the action took place. Equipped with an ultra complete buffet-style restaurant and a full-size stage, the main dining terrace was the hub of everything that went on throughout the day.

While the food was good, I suggest you make reservations at Pasta-Fari (Italian restaurant) or Scotch Bonnet (Jamaican restaurant) during your stay. But leave Tuesday open since it's lobster and flank steak night -- a real treat.

The Italian restaurant was charming, the food was excellent and the service was far from traditional, not to mention that the wine served was made from better grapes than the one served in the other dining area.

Just a little tip: don't reserve during the evening shows. Instead, enjoy the program before dinner while sipping on a few aperitifs, or after
dessert and coffee, tea or Baileys (yum).

Throughout the day, there's always something to nibble on. Whether you're at the sex-crazed island or the beach, poolside or nude area, food is available till 2am. I'm still wondering how I only gained 10 pounds. The daily beachside portion of cheeseburgers and fries alone should have tipped the scale over 3 digits. All in all, the quality and variety of foods offered at Hedo II were up to par with the rest of Super Clubs' quality.

jamaican women

I must say that Jamaican women are striking in their beauty, intelligence, charm, and booty wiggling know-how. I have visited many places before, and nowhere else did women literally make me melt, or should I say freeze, with hip movement alone.

To top it off, Hedo II was host to the Jamaican Miss Venus competition, showing off some of the country's most talented and stunning young ladies. (Coincidence? I think not.) We discovered that the ladies were not only beautiful, but also surprisingly friendly and warm, since we had the chance to entertain them all week long.

nightlife

The disco area is the ultimate connection between the prude and the nude. After the evening show, around 11pm, most guests have met Appleton many times over and suddenly the energy starts building. People start getting friendlier and very at ease with the compliments. The disco closes at 5am so there's plenty of time to dance and meet interesting people or couples.

That's what Hedonism vacationing is all about; letting go without any regrets. The two nights of note were Tuesday (PJ Night) and Thursday (Toga Night). Just let yourself go and don't ask any questions because she might have arrived at the party with him but she's not necessarily leaving with him.

On quieter nights, check out Negril's The Jungle Club. For $20USD, you'll get a return ride from Hedo II to the club, which is approximately 5 minutes away. Drink up on the beautiful rooftop terrace or tear up the disco floor with the latest Jamaican reggae vibes. The Jungle also stays open very late, or should I say early?

On Sundays, there's the sing-a-long at Veronica's, the club's piano bar. You'll have a great time singing along to dirty songs while watching the ladies strut their stuff on the grand piano. When I say strut their stuff, I mean completely.

Every night, at around 2am, people start heading to the nude side for a taste of the Hedo style nightcap. The nude whirlpool is where you'll observe or participate in the most outrageous parties happening at Hedo II. Anything goes. On some nights, you'll need the fingers of both hands to count the number of partners involved in the ménages. Most of the time, that's where the eels meet the sea orchids.

things of note

What else should you be looking for throughout your trip?

In terms of activities, check out:

Ric's Café
A beautiful café/restaurant where you can enjoy cliff diving while the sun sets on the ocean. For $15USD, you can take a shuttle from Hedo II to Ric's, or for $45USD, you can also sail down to Ric's on the "clothing optional" cruise, where the bar is open and the reggae session is live.

Parasailing
For $40USD, you'll get to see Negril from 400 feet up in the air. It'll give you a great adrenaline rush and it's safe. A definite must.

Scuba diving
It's free so take advantage of it. The sites are beautiful and Hedo II must have one of the most inviting diving boats I've ever seen.

Everything's included
Don't be shy to participate in the water aerobics, weightlifting sessions, ping-pong, pool games, trapeze clinics, and trampoline sessions, as well as all the talent shows.

Miscellaneous things to watch for:

The trip from Montego Bay to Negril
The land ride is quite bumpy. If you'd rather not experience that, then take the plane instead.

Tipping is not permitted but greatly appreciated
Everyone from the drivers and bellboys to the cleaning lady will appreciate gratuities.

Staff members are warm
The staff was generally very welcoming, polite and smiley. As for the entertainment staff specifically, they were gorgeous and very talented.

It was, to say the least, a unique experience. I definitely recommend it to anyone with an open mind looking for something unconventional and exciting. It's one of the "Things To Do" on your checklist of life, and just think of the stories you'll have once you return.
